The UPRH-Penn Partnership for Research and Education in Materials (PREM) is built on a decade of mutually beneficial and successful research and education collaborations between the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao (UPRH) along with UPRC and UPRRP and the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) Materials Research Science & Engineering Center. The program integrates K-12, undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and the community served by UPR. The research focuses in the areas of Conducting Polymers, Oxides, and Modeling of Materials. PREM has transformed research and education at UPR by providing access to cutting-edge ideas, facilities, and providing new opportunities for minority students. As a result, research productivity and the number of students pursuing degrees in MSE have increased significantly. The success of the UPRH-PREM is based on the integration of partners who are committed to the program, value to the contributions of each other, and enjoy working together.
