| A mock presentation will be conducted that replicates the experience K-12 students receive through the State of Louisiana's "Speaking of Science" program on careers in Materials Engineering and Science. The purpose of this approach is to demonstrate to high school and elementary school teachers how they can interest their students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. The necessary background for the STEM disciplines is described, the required education level discussed, and example salaries for graduates in STEM fields made available. After the mock demonstration, a short analysis of the effectiveness of the techniques will be provided. |
