| Families homeschool their children for a variety of reasons: Religious, public-school education quality, and family bonding are all valid reasons to homeschool our children. Regardless of “why,” there is one, large, potential stumbling block that faces the homeschooling family with college-bound children: The high-school science sequence of Physical Science, Biology I & II, Chemistry and Physics. All of these sciences, at the core, require laboratory investigation, and not too many households have laboratories in the kitchen or basement. At issue is also the wide-variety of curriculum choices and the quality of science education each curriculum gives. We will discuss some methods for overcoming many of the challenges faced by the homeschool community and some of the resources that are available to meet the need. |
