Recently, we have published the synthesis and characterization of an iron (III) chloro-POSS compound, [Bu4N][((CH3)2CHCH2)7Si7O12FeCl] (1).1 Additional experiments have shown that 1 will react with AgBF4 to remove the chloride and produce a neutral iron (III) POSS compound (2). With an open coordination site now available, we have reacted 2 with a variety of 2,3-disubstituted-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one's2 to form the first series of 2,3-disubstituted-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one adducts of an iron (III) POSS. We will present the synthesize and characterization of this new class of compounds.
