Alternative assessment methods in upper division chemistry courses: Benefits to students, faculty and the department

Upper division chemistry courses at many institutions have manageable enrollment sizes, which open a number of assessment possibilities without requiring additional resources. Venturing well beyond traditional written examinations, this presentation will highlight alternative assessment methods, their implementation, and the sometimes-surprising results that have benefits beyond the classroom.
