| Since 1951 Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, physics, and physiology or medicine have met annually in Lindau, Germany, with an international group of graduate students in these disciplines to discuss issues in science and technology, to broaden students' scientific horizons through lectures and presentations, and to exchange ideas in international small group settings. Each year an international group of more than 500 students is invited to attend the weeklong meeting. For several years the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation, with participation by several other organizations, have jointly sponsored a competitively selected US delegation of some 50 graduate students to attend this international conference. This presentation will offer vignettes from recent Lindau Meetings that illustrate broadly important benefits to students that accrue from a week of close interactions with Nobel Laureates and fellow students from around the world. |
