A variety of ceramics nanoparticles and nanostructures are studied in our group for diverse energy conversion applications. In this presentation we will focus on the surface photocatalysis of Nitrogen-doped ceramics. These nanostructures are de novo synthesized and optimized for visible-light catalysis. The effects of chemical composition, size, shape, and dopant concentrations on the efficiency of the surface catalysis are studied and utilitzed to control the surface catalysis. Recent progress will be reported.
