| As the largest institution of higher education in the country, Miami Dade College enrolls over 150,000 students each year. Of these students, 90% are ethnic minorities, 61% are female, and nearly 6,000 are enrolled in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs. Among the programs MDC offers are science-based learning communities, peer tutoring programs, math-readiness initiatives, and a number of scholarship programs sponsored by the National Science Foundation. This presentation will highlight these efforts at MDC that have increased student success in chemistry and the sciences in general. |
