Invisible professionals in an invisible science: Careers of chemical technicians

Chemical technicians are the backbone of the chemical enterprise, the ones who translate ideas into actions. Yet, even though there are over 400,000 of these professionals in the U.S. chemical industries, their contributions are rarely recognized. Just as chemistry is often called the “invisible science,” so to can technicians be called the “invisible professionals.” This presentation will look at the vital role technicians play in the chemical enterprise, the knowledge and skills that may them valuable, and how they fit in at ACS.
