Norzoanthamine belongs to a structurally challenging family of marine natural products known as the zoanthamines.  It has shown promising biological activity and it has been reported as a promising candidate for an osteoporotic drug as indicated by experiments in animal models.  Our objective is to develop efficient synthetic methods and strategies toward this class of bioactive metabolites.  A stereoselective synthesis of the ABC ring system and the crucial development of the fully functionalized C ring will be present.
