Many bachelor level chemists entering medicinal chemistry have limited drug discovery knowledge. AstraZeneca Careers in Chemistry Day promoted undergraduate medicinal chemistry education through exploration of drug discovery addressing this unmet need. The event included a seminar on drug discovery history, a tour of AstraZeneca's drug discovery laboratories, a discussion about medicinal chemists' daily activities and an opportunity to present research. Students from four undergraduate institutions attended. Next year, AstraZeneca plans to include additional institutions.
