DPPH is commonly used as a free radical in antioxidant capacity assays. Typically a comparison is made between flavonoids by comparing the concentration needed to reduce the absorbance of DPPH by 50% in 30 minutes. This method is shown to be arbitrary in comparing flavonoids and a non arbitrary method is introduced. By comparing the concentration needed to reduce the absorbance by 50% in the fast kinetic step a more meaningful comparison is obtained. Other parameters will also be generated that can be used in further studies.
