This presentation will deal with the development of new materials for fuel cells and lithium ion batteries. For fuel cells, emphasis will be placed on the use of ordered intermetallic phases as anodes. Combinatorial methods and the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles will also be discussed. For lithium ion batteries, the emphasis will be on new cathodes based on organosulfur materials. Future directions and new opportunities will also be discussed.
