The synthesis of a novel Technetium-99m labeled PIB (2-(4-(methylamino)phenyl)-6-hydroxybenzothiaz ole) derivative has been described and the structural characterization and in vitro binding studies were conducted using the corresponding rhenium surrogate. The spectroscopic studies confirmed that the revealed that the complexation reaction gave exclusively the syn isomer. In vitro binding studies indicated that this complex has a high affinity to beta-amyloid than PIB.
