Five coordinate vanadium-salen complexes are known to be good for oxidation of simple sulfides. In this contribution, a new class of monohelical vanadium-salen complexes with chiral backbones and extended aromatic side-arms are studied as asymmetric catalysts in sulfoxidation reactions. The activity and selectivity is examined for aryl alkylsulfides.
