The PC to PC communications tool is used by local colleges and high schools to access to specialized instruments at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez Chemical Imaging Center. The colleges and high schools that access this instruments are located as far as 25 miles from UPR Mayaguez. In the classroom, a typical activity may last up to one hour, but access times are about 5 to 15 minutes long. In this presentation, we will discuss three representative science and engineering activities performed using the UPRM CIC Portal to Science concept. These activities include (1) the properties of light, (2) the interaction of light with matter and (3) nanotechnology. The response of undergraduate students at UPR Ponce to the Portal to Science has been documented and will be presented.
