Monomeric copper(I) complexes that are coordinated by N-heterocyclic carbene or bisphosphine ligands and possess amido or thiolate ligands have previously been used to catalyze aza-, and thia-Michael reactions of alkyl and aryl amines or thiols. Extension of reactivity to vinyl arenes as well as possible enantioselective variants will be discussed.
