| Our Luminary award-winning NCW event, the annual ACS Chemistry Open House and Science Exploration Gallery, has a 19 year history of service to the local community with more than 1000 students, teachers and parents in attendance every year for the last three years. It takes place in the Chemistry Department of Texas A&M University and combines three famous TAMU Chemistry Road Shows with lab tours and more than 40 hands-on activities and contests from chemistry, physics, biology and student organizations. Goodie bags of chemistry fun are presented to hundreds of children and 50 door prizes of chemistry toys are given out at each of the three chemistry shows. Over the years, we have grown in many ways: advertising, attendance, and number and variety of activities. Last year, we had over $20,000 of free TV advertising. This presentation will share planning details, problems solved and show pictures of past events. |
