This talk will focus on the history as well as the changes and mechanisms for sustainability that the First Year Program at Texas A&M University have undergone over the last year. This program services approximately 4000 students each semester in one of two tracks. The role of investment in the program by the Department and College are outlined. The uses for this investment are detailed. Strategies for achieving sustainability in this largely autonomous unit are described. Plans for the future are delineated. The results of our large-scale adoption of an electronic curriculum will also be shared.
