POLY 471 |
| Hyperbranched poly[11-(4'-cyanophenyl-4"-phenoxy)undecyl acrylate]s were synthesized by self-condensing vinyl polymerization of an acrylate containing 11-(4'-cyanophenyl-4''-phenoxy)undecyl acrylate as a free side chain under atom transfer radical polymerization conditions. Detailed investigations of the structure of the hyperbranched architecture were performed by NMR to obtain reactivity ratio r, and branching density. The 1H NMR spectra were complex and resemble that of the corresponding inimer, the 13C NMR spectra are similar to that of the counterpart. More rigorous analyses are required to identify the different branch units and to obtain reactivity ratios and branching densities. |
