| Some of the most valuable lessons one can learn during a graduate education are found beyond the walls of your laboratory. Knowing that I wanted a career that was not strictly in the lab, I specifically sought out opportunities for leadership and networking during my time as a graduate student at Purdue University. Some opportunities were found within the department, while some of my most valuable experiences were gained outside of the academic setting, and some even outside of the field altogether. This talk will illustrate one way to customize a toolbox of skills to prepare for a future career. |
