Abstract: We firstly reported on the synthesis of the transparent ZnS/PMAA/PMMA nanocomposite hybrids by catalytic chain transfer polymerization (CCTP) technique. Firstly, we use PMAA macromonomer prepared by CCTP as the stabilizer to prepare functionalized ZnS nanocrystals, and then the functionalized ZnS nanocrystals containing double bond were achieved. Finally, we successfully fabricated well-defined transparent ZnS/PMAA/PMMA nanocomposite hybrid via free radical polymerization in situ. FT-IR characterization indicates the formation of robust bonding between ZnS nanocrystals and PMAA macromonomer. The calculated particle size of ZnS nanocrystals is 2.6 nm according to the Brus's model. UV–vis absorption spectra analysis shows that ZnS nanocrystals with QD state were well dispersed in polymer matrix. Also, the ZnS/PMAA/PMMA exhibits good optical property.
