The growth of undergraduate research at Bridgewater State College has reached a critical level of interaction. Currently, the chemistry faculty are at mentoring capacity with full 4/4 teaching loads. We have been faced with the challenge of developing an approach to provide broader student-mentor interaction, peer support for actively involved undergraduate research students, and to expand the research program to be available to all chemistry majors and even other science majors. The overall goal of this “research seminar” course is to address the collective growing interest of our chemistry and science majors to become engaged in undergraduate research. This course is intended to provide peer interaction and growth among our students currently mentored by chemistry faculty and science majors interested in chemical research efforts at Bridgewater State College and other academic institutions. The integration of research into some of our other departmental courses will also be presented.
