In 2000 we instituted a project called “Greening across the Chemistry Curriculum” (http://academic.scranton.edu/faculty/cannm1/greenchemistry.html). The result of this project is the exposure of our students to green chemistry under a wide array of situations so that students see how green chemistry is applicable to all areas of chemistry. A major component of our University mission is the education for justice. As part of this effort the Task Force on Sustainability was formed in 2004. One of the major thrusts for this group has been the infusion of sustainability across the curriculum. As in the green chemistry project, the aim is to take a topic that is already covered in a particular course and to illustrate how sustainability is applicable to this topic. The objective is for our students to graduate with a firm sense of what sustainability is and how they can contribute to a sustainable society. http://matrix.scranton.edu/sustainability/default.shtml
