The supramolecular assemblies of polyoxometalates are of significant contemporary interest owing to their large size, various shapes and charming electrical and optical properties.[1,2] Here, we report a supramolecular compound based on β-[Mo8O24]4- polyanions, formulated as (bppy)4[Mo8O24] (1) (bppy = 5-(4-bromophenyl)-2-(4-pyridinyl)-pyridine). Crystal data: triclinic, P-1, a = 11.0837(11) Å, b = 11.4055(11) Å, c = 16.9747(16) Å, α = 89.153(2)º, β = 73.226(2)º, γ = 62.9070(10)º, V = 1811.9(3) Å3, Z = 1, Dx = 2.229 Mg/m3, R1 = 0.0595, wR2 = 0.1649. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the structure of 1 contains β-[Mo8O24]4- anions combining with protonized bppy cations by weak non covalent interaction. A three-dimensional hybrid framework was fabricated via extensively intermolecular interactions among inorganic anions and organic bppys, including hydrogen bond, halogen bond, π-π stacking and so on. Electrical property of 1 was also studied.
