An attractive feature of metallo-supramolecular polymers is the combination of the polymer properties with the properties offered by the metal ligand complex. The combination of metal complexes and LCST polymers might offer a new class of materials that can be switched by addressing either the thermosensitive polymer or the metal complex. Therefore, the focus of this paper is the synthesis of poly-NIPAM end functionalized terpyridines which will be further subject for the preparation of metallo-supramolecular polymers.
