Three structurally related peroxophosphatotungstates, [(HPO4)2W3O6(O2)3]4- a, [(HPO4)2W6O15(O2)4]6- b and [(HPO4)2(PO4)W6O12(O2)6]7- c were isolated from aqueous/acetonitrile mixed media and were structurally analyzed (see figures). Each anion has L-shaped tritungstate unit(s) coordinated by phosphate group(s) as bipodal or tripodal ligand(s). The anion b showed a single line in solid state 31P NMR whereas two (a) and three (c) resonances were observed reflecting different environment of each P atom in the crystals. The formation and crystallization behaviors of these anions as well as their possible protonation or exchanging processes were followed by solution 31P NMR and will be discussed.
