The present study investigates the Crystalline structure of a hairy-rod conjugated copolymer with a poly(phenylenevinylene) backbone and oligo (oxyethylene) (EO) side chains, poly{[2,5-di (2-(2-ethoxy-ethoxy)ethoxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene]-alt-1,4-[phenylenevinylene]} (DTEO-PV). The SAXS profile and TEM micrograph indicated that the crystal structure of DTEO-alt-PV consist of stiff rod-like PPV segments packed in an orthorhombic unit cell with a = 1.31nm and b = 1.23 nm. The crystalline DTEO-alt-PV melted into an isotropic melted at 152°C. This polymer slef-organized to form a semicrystalline lamellar structure with the interlamellar distance of 60 ~ 70 nm as revealed by TEM micrograph. The objective will be the establishment of the correlation between the supramolecular structure and the photophysical properties.
