Ramoplanin: Synthetic and mechanistic studies

Studies on the total synthesis of ramoplanin, a potent lipoglycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall biosynthesis, and its extension to key analogues will be described in efforts to probe fundamental features of its mechanism of action.
