This presentation highlights the developments at Bethany Lutheran College inspired by the NSF-funded Chemistry of Art Workshop. These developments include the creation of a new “Chemistry of Art” course, incorporation of topics into existing chemistry courses, incorporation into photography courses taught by the Fine Arts department, activities for the BLC Science Club, and an all-campus seminar. Of special note is Chemistry department participation in a community arts event on our campus. Incorporation of chemistry into an arts festival has been a fantastic way to present chemistry to the general public. The materials presented in the workshop have provided far reaching opportunities to present chemistry in the context of art to the campus and local communities.
