A new pyrene substituted tyrosine derivative was synthesized and characterized. UV, FL, and light scattering experiments proved that the chiral molecules could self assemble. Furthermore, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) images indicated that helical nanowires could be fabricated by self-assembly due to the g-g stacking interaction between adjacent pyrene molecules and hydrophilic and hydrophobic interaction.
