A novel approach “Science from the S.T.A.R.T.” is presented on how to bring modern research into the undergraduate classroom. Introducing primary literature such as research papers, the student experiences early on a unique way to gain insight into the nature of science. Choosing topics which are of interested to the student and can easily be researched on the web creates an initial platform on which to build more in-depth discussions of scientific literature and research papers. To simply present a full scientific paper in class would certainly overwhelm the beginning student and it will be discussed along three specific examples on how to integrate research papers into the undergraduate curriculum. The examples include: Organic Molecules in Space, Saturn's moon Titan's Mysterious Chemistry, and Laboratory Synthesis and Analysis of Tholin Compounds.
