| A number of organotin polyethers were synthesized from the interfacial reaction of dienestrol and organotin dihalides. The products are polymeric. F MALDI MS was run on the samples and this paper describes some of the results. As in other cases where the matrix 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid was used, some low mass ion fragment clusters are formed from reaction between the organotin moiety and the matrix. Isotopic abundance matches for one and two tin-containing ion fragment clusters were found. Ion fragments to about 200,000 daltons were found. This is the upper range for the configuration of the MS that was employed for the study. As in other cases, bond breakage occurs at hetero atom sites. Bond scission also occurs within the dienestrol moiety with the most common being at the OPh site and within the center C-C bond site. While there is some loss of the alkyl or aryl bonded to tin, it appears to occur only at the sites of bond breakage. |
