Liquid bandages have been used since early man – mud poultices – for protecting skin and for aiding in injured skin healing. In more recent times, liquid bandages have been developed to cover fishermen's blisters, to stop traumatic bleeding, to close incisions and cuts, to protect skin from incontinence break-down, and to protect scrapes and abrasions. This presentation will highlight key liquid bandage technologies that are used today both within a hospital setting and at home and will provide a view of important considerations in their development.
