Today's Science for Tomorrow's Scientists (TSTS) is an interactive web-based tool that introduces current research being done at the University of Wisconsin-Madison at a level that is appropriate for students in grades 5-8 and 9-12. The research of three different professors at UW-Madison is introduced in TSTS. The topics covered include organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and biochemistry research areas. The goals of TSTS are threefold: to improve students' attitudes towards science, to improve students' understanding of research and the research environment, and to teach students information that meets the National Science Education Standards. Pre and post surveys have been developed to evaluate the effectiveness of TSTS with respect to the goals stated above. Pilot studies have been conducted at Middleton High School and Adams Friendship High School. A full scale implementation of the website is scheduled for late this spring semester.
