Teaching More Effectively with Molecular Modeling Tools | |||

Molecular modeling allows students to learn about the molecular nature of matter in a powerful and completely hands-on way. Attend this workshop and learn how to add modeling techniques to your lecture demonstrations as well as to your laboratory and homework assignments. Two suites of software will be featured: Odyssey-a learning tool for introductory chemistry that allows for realistic simulation of molecular motion, and Spartan-the industry-leading modeling application that is used in teaching and research laboratories worldwide. A variety of examples from the standard curriculum for General, Organic, and Physical Chemistry will be given, from the gas laws to chemical reactivity and from bond polarity to basic thermodynamics.
