Corn stalk hemicelluloses were isolated with 90% dioxane, 80% acidic dioxane, 100% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and 8% NaOH from ball milled powder, respectively. Quantitative 1H, 13C, and HSQC (Heteronuclear Single Quantum Coherence) NMR analysis revealed the structural information of isolated hemicelluloses in detail, showing that corn stalk hemicelluloses contain arabinoxylan as the major polysaccharide, which are substituted by á-L-arabinofuranose, 4-O-methylglucuronic acid, acetyl groups (DS=0.09/0.12), and á-D-xylose at O-2 and/or O-3 of xylan.
