There is interest in the preparation of mixed-metal clusters, especially those containing second and third row transition metals, in the hopes of taking advantage of the inherent differences in metal reactivity to generate site-differentiated cluster complexes. Here we report the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity studies of a 5:1 rhenium:molybdenum mixed-metal hexanuclear cluster.
