National Chemistry Week (NCW) is a community-based program of the American Chemical Society (ACS). The annual event unites ACS local sections, businesses, schools, and individuals in communicating the importance of chemistry to their communities. To promote NCW 2006, ACS Past-President Bill Carroll toured the Midwest on his second Extreme NCW Tour. From October 21 – 28, Bill Carroll reinforced the NCW mission by traveling close to 4,000 miles to participate in a wide variety of outreach activities that brought positive messages about chemistry to the public. Details of his memorable journey, reports from his blog and an account of his activities can be found at www.chemistryweek.org. For more information about NCW, email ncw@acs.org or visit www.chemistry.org/ncw.
