Diffusion NMR, a valuable technique for diffusion constant determination, is rarely discussed in undergraduate laboratory courses. In this study, a two-week experiment has been developed to measure the diffusion constant of water using a JEOL 300 MHz NMR. Additionally, developments on an advanced lab comparing the diffusion constant obtained from the basic experiment and the mobility of the hydrogen ion as measured by electrical conductivity will be discussed. Both experiments will be included in Juniata College's junior-level physical chemistry lab course.
