The Northern Plains Undergraduate Research Center (NPURC) is one of five NSF Undergraduate Research Collaboratives. The URCs are charged with a mission to develop models for attracting students into research early in their academic careers and for engaging them in far greater numbers than previously thought feasible. A related goal is to develop models whereby a larger number and a greater diversity of the nation's colleges and universities may be involved in research. The eight partner institutions in NPURC are all Principally Undergraduate Institutions and include two tribal colleges, one of which is a two-year community college. NPURC seeks to make research an integral part of the entire undergraduate chemistry curriculum and to foster the support structure and resources needed to sustain the activities. In this presentation we will discuss the NPURC model for curricular revision, introduction to research workshops, and intensive research experiences.
