Julian began his academic career at DePauw University as a remedial student because of his inadequate high school preparation. He left DePauw as valedictorian and later became one of the top industrial chemists of his time. His accomplishments are made all the more impressive by considering the racial injustices he had to endure not only from his neighbors but also other chemists and even his alma mater. This poster will present many of Julian's contributions to chemistry with a special focus on work he did with undergraduates as a research director at DePauw.
