The NKU ACS Student Affiliates chapter has worked this year to expand interest in chemistry and increase involvement in SAACS activities. This has been achieved through a variety of different avenues including the development of intramural SAACS sports teams, Facebook groups, and activities to celebrate National Chemistry Week and Mole Day. This year we organized a human periodic table on campus to celebrate Mole Day that involved over 120 students and faculty including the Dean and Provost of the university. In addition, during national chemistry week, we conducted demos on “Your Home It's all Built on Chemistry” to 6 libraries in the greater Northern Kentucky region. We educated young and old on the wonders of chemistry. Facebook was utilized to announce upcoming Chemistry seminars sponsored by SAACS and tutoring sessions for chemistry students. We believe these activities promote interest in participating in SAACS. Overall our membership and attendance has increased significantly.
