With modern multimedia resources and software, the ability to easily integrate video, sound, and text on the personal computer now exists. Using these tools, we created a customized safety video for the laboratory component of a general chemistry course. The video incorporated information specific to laboratory experiments and equipment, as well as policies unique to the institution. Clips from popular film and television series were used to capture and sustain the attention of the audience while reinforcing relevant safety directives. Examples of customized material from our video will be included in the presentation.
