Physical Chemistry On-Line is a project that has allowed and currently allows faculty to collaborate and make use of small group learning techniques in an online environment. As the project matured, research based guidelines emerged to help faculty facilitate online discussions. Beyond chemistry, the research and practice base pertaining to communication in electronic environments has grown to include a rich variety of disciplines and different kinds of platforms. Discussion of facilitation in an on-line environment and various platforms will be presented.
