In this paper, a survey of the undergraduate chemistry courses at representative US and Middle Eastern universities will be presented and similarities and differences pointed out. The importance of this work stems from the author's own experience in learning and teaching chemistry in both regions. As many institutions aspire to reform their curriculum, they look for academic plans and course contents at leading international institutions for some sense of "expectation" or guidance using the information available on the web. Special emphasis will be placed on the first two years of chemistry (i.e general, organic and physical chemistry courses). The general chemistry laboratory courses content is of particular interest to us and as such is also closely examined.
