| The control of acidity in the biological pH range 6.0 to 8.0 is important in clinical chemistry and biomedicine. The buffer compounds DIPSO and MES have been studied. The pH values for three buffer solutions, for example, 0.06 molal Buffer + 0.06 molal sodium Bufferate + 0.10 molal NaCl; at temperatures 5, 25, 37, and 55°C have been calculated. The cells were used without liquid junction of the type: Pt; H2 (g, 1 atm) | Buffer (m1) + NaBufferate (m2) + NaCl (m3) | AgCl, Ag. The pH at 37°C for DIPSO and MES buffers closely match the pH of blood. The results will be explained in terms of pH standards for biological specimens. |
