| Dudley Herron's contributions to the field of chemical education research encompass more than a litany of concrete accomplishments such as numbers of presentations, publications, graduate students, outside funding sources, etc., etc. The emergence and growth processes of the interdisciplinary field of chemical education research – the forces that brought us to the position of having a national award in the field – are due in large part to people who championed the efforts even when faced with skepticism and even criticism from colleagues. Dudley was one of the more active players in the process and we will look at his role as a change agent in that endeavor. |
