Emf measurements of hydrogen-silver chloride cells without liquid junction of the type: Pt; H2 (g, 1 atm) | BICINE (m1) + NaBICINEate (m2) + NaCl (m3) | AgCl, Ag have been carried out. Measurements were made from 5 to 55°C at 5° intervals. The values of pH for an isotonic saline solution (I=0.16 mol•kg-1) of BICINE from 5 to 55°C have been calculated using the simpler Bates-Guggenheim convention. The results will be explained in terms of the applicability of this buffer standard for physiological study.
