Several series of metal chloride clusters are observed in the electrospray mass spectra of dilute MCl2 hydrate salts in methanol. These clusters are studied in the range of 100 to 600 Daltons. The transition metals reported are nickel, cobalt, copper and zinc. Copper shows that it is easily reduced to +1 in the electrospray chamber and forms both (CuCl2)xCl- clusters as well as (CuCl)xCl-. (CuClx)(MeOH)-y clusters that incorporate the solvent are also observed.
